Inwood Canoe Club has established a partner 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation named Uptown Paddling, Inc. to offer local schools and outdoor-oriented organizations the chance to experience the Hudson River in a new way and learn, or improve, kayaking skills.

The youth programs are two to three hours long, and include:

  • An introductory talk about the ecology of the Hudson River and the importance of environmental stewardship,

  • Discussion about on-water safety,

  • Paddling instruction,

  • Kayaking practice, and

  • A guided excursion, weather permitting.  (Trained volunteers from the Inwood Canoe Club are always on the water with the kids.)

Uptown Paddling provides life jackets, paddles and kayaks for the kids and chaperones. Trips are led by radio-equipped member-guides to assure safe and fun experience.
For more information on how your group can partner with Uptown Paddling please go to www.uptownpaddling.org where you can apply to have an event for your youth group, or make tax deductible donations.
