Open House Week 10: The One with All the Photos

I finally got my waterproof camera so this week's post will have many photos!

It was a busy Open House, with 72 guests. The weather was just the way I like it: cloudy and a little windy, with choppy waves. Storms kept threatening to sweep in, but they never did, so we got through the whole morning without rain or lightning.

THAT BRIDGE THOUGH.

THAT BRIDGE THOUGH.

The current was flowing north so all three trips headed south toward the bridge. The first group got hit with a big wave just as they were heading out, but everyone handled it beautifully. Some guests were even whooping, cowboy-style, as they surfed over the crest. Or maybe that was me -- my memory is a little fuzzy on that point.

All too soon, it was time to come back. My camera died before the first wave of paddlers reached the dock, so apparently all those people griping about the battery life on Amazon weren't lying. Next time I guess I'll bring an extra battery.

We also had some special guests this week: our friends from the Citizens Committee for New York City, who are supporting us with a much-appreciated grant. Thanks, Citizens Committee!
