Open House, Week 2: Serenity Now

“Serene” is the word first-time guest Nick Tyson used to describe the Hudson on Sunday and it was a good fit. Some 45 guests and 23 members enjoyed bluebird skies, a gentle current and light breezes for the second Open House of the summer.

All three waves paddled south to the bridge and back.

Nick Tyson enjoyed his debut paddle on the Hudson.

“It was neat to get a peek around the George Washington Bridge and see the red lighthouse,” said Tyson, who went out on two waves. “It’s a really beautiful experience; it’s very serene out on the water.”

Tyson lives right here in Inwood. He’s paddled before, but this was his first time on the Hudson. He vowed to come back again soon, “and I’ll bring more people!” That’s what we like to hear, Nick!

Several members stayed after to help get the club ready for this weekend’s Cocktails on the Hudson fundraiser. So far the forecast looks perfect for deck-lounging and drink-sipping. Have you bought your tickets yet?
