Juan Ruiz was jogging past the Inwood Canoe Club last spring when action at the club caught his attention. Despite the fact that he was born and raised in the area, he said never saw the place before.
Anyone who’s ever been to the boathouse knows the Inwood Canoe Club has a long history. It’s hard to miss “Est. 1902” emblazoned proudly above the door. But looking through the club’s treasure trove of old documents and photos is different. It breathes life into those 113 years.
“Serene” is the word first-time guest Nick Tyson used to describe the Hudson on Sunday – and it was a good fit. Our 45 guests and 22 members enjoyed bluebird skies, a gentle current and light breezes for the second Open House of the summer.
